It was charming, adventurous, frightening, and altogether an utterly thrilling experience. What more can I say? I adore the classic sci-fi films of Spielberg's past, and this film took everything that made those movies great, married it with all the action and terror of a modern-day creature feature... and what resulted was something magical.
It inspired me so much that I just had to draw the enigmatic creature that the Abrams/Spielberg duo have kept so secret this past year. I've begun by drawing the bust of the creature, mostly because his face was the most striking aspect of his design to me. I must stress that this probably isn't entirely accurate, though. XD I need to see the film a few more times before I can really get a grasp of his exact design. Regardless, here I've depicted him in his "calm" expression... so if you think this guy is entirely cute and cuddly now, just wait until I draw him angry. >3
EDIT: By the way, it should be noted that those aren't eyelids you're looking at. They're nictitating membranes that open and close over the creature's eyes.
